What happens after academia?
After years of being in school, do you still feel unprepared for or uncertain about what comes next? Maybe the subject you chose to intensely study as a teenager or young adult, is not as engaging as it once was. If you have struggled with these thoughts as I have, then you might find value in reading a new book about how to build a path for yourself from the end of your schooling years (either end of undergraduate or graduate study) to your vision of the good life.
A Practical Guide
This book discusses concrete strategies to help you understand your desires because understanding desire is a core aspect of making a confident decision. When we are uncertain what we want or if we are clouded by what we ought to do to please other people (or even our vision of what other people expect which may not be real) it is difficult to feel confidence about that.
How it works
The chapters of the book are mostly self contained so you don’t need to worry about reading them all or in any particular order. Just choose the ones that feel like they may offer you something. There is no particular cadence or set of release but if you subscribe you’ll get an email notification when a new chapter becomes available. I’ve done my best to resist the urge to write too many words for each topic and hope they have been scaled so that a reading of a chapter takes only 15 minutes or so.
Each chapter comes will a small set of writing or thinking exercises. I find that writing about my issues helps my brain sort out the problem. I’ve suggested a few exercises based on the content of each chapter which I believe will help you come to.
